Hi, I'm Mathis Nande
Data Scientist & Research Scientist
Designing ML frameworks and optimization models to solve real-world problems. Passionate about transforming complex problems into data-driven solutions.
About Me
I am currently studying Data Science and Statistics at the Toulouse School of Economics. I also follow a Magistère, which is a more research-oriented training. Moreover, I have a double bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics. So overall, my background is based on mathematics, statistics, and economics.
Since I was young, I have always enjoyed solving problems using data. What I like is the thinking part: understanding a situation, finding the right method, and building something useful. I've worked on everything from flight trajectory analysis to GenAI chatbots, optimization models for multinational companies, and data visualization projects.
Technical Stack: Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Flask, Streamlit), R, SQL, STATA, SAS, VBA, Pine Script, LaTeX, Google Cloud Platform, Deep Learning, Time Series Analysis, Econometrics
Languages: French (Native) • English (B2 to C1 - TOEFL)
Experience
Co-Founder
Tensaure (born from Google Hackathon)
After the Google hackathon, we met with CEOs of some large companies. That led to the creation of my startup, Tensaure. We built optimization models for a large international fast-food chain. I can't share too many details because we are under contract, but it was a great experience in building real solutions for a real business.
I led the technical roadmap, cloud architecture design, and end-to-end model deployment. We managed the full product lifecycle from conception to production.
Data Scientist & Research Scientist - Science Team
OpenAirlines
I started my gap year with a 6-month internship at OpenAirlines, in the Science Team. OpenAirlines develops software to help airlines reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. The platform is used by 70+ airlines worldwide, and in 2024 alone, users saved 555 million kg of fuel, avoided 1.75 million tons of CO₂, and achieved $614 million in cost savings.
Product Mission:
My mission was to create the first benchmark tool between airlines featuring leaderboard scoring across routes, approaches, trajectories, and flight strategies. The tool needed to enable performance comparison on multiple dimensions: route efficiency, fuel consumption patterns, approach techniques, and operational strategies. All of this designed into a user-friendly interface that makes complex trajectory analysis accessible to airline operations teams.
Scientific Challenge:
To build this product, I had to solve a research problem based on flight trajectories from public ADS-B data. The issue: there are too many flights and too much data to compare everything directly. We needed a way to tell if two flights are similar without comparing every flight to every other flight. I read a lot, a lot, a lot of literature, and I chose to use MinHash and LSH, which are algorithms used in search engines. For the first time in aviation, I applied these algorithms to flight trajectory comparison. It worked very well, enabling the product vision to become reality.
The best thing about working on trajectories is you don't even have to erase the whiteboard to make it unreadable after a meeting :)
Tech Stack: Python, Google Cloud Platform, Deep Learning, Clustering, MinHash, LSH, ETL Pipelines, Git
Grand Finalist - Google × ThinkYoung Hackathon
Google Paris
I took part in a hackathon organized by Google. My team reached the Grand Final in Paris at Google HQ. We built a chatbot that could access real-time news by connecting it to AFP APIs and other EU data sources. At that time, chatbots did not have access to the internet, so it was a new and useful idea. It was a great challenge and a great moment.
We deployed the solution on Google Cloud Platform and brought it to production through a partnership with AFP. This success led to the creation of Tensaure.
Presenting our chatbot at Google HQ... nervously hoping the demo wouldn't crash in front of everyone :)
Best Data Visualization Award 2024
Le Sphinx • All French Junior-Enterprises
I won the Best Data Visualization Award among all French Junior-Enterprises. The theme was "Valuing the Junior-Enterprise network: identifying acquisition channels." The goal was to create a clear and powerful dashboard to help people who do not have the full data view quickly understand the key information.
Learned that storytelling does 90% of the work in data viz... as long as the data plays along :)
Data & Innovation Project Manager
Aéroport de Toulouse Blagnac
I did an internship at Toulouse Airport. This time, it was less technical, but it was very interesting. I worked on projects from A to Z: understanding the problem, choosing the technology, and bringing the solution to production. I led three IT projects end-to-end within the Engineering & Innovation Department. This experience taught me how to manage projects end-to-end and improve operational efficiency across the department.
Here is the airport in question, adjacent to the Airbus factories!
Junior Data Analyst / Developer
DGA - French Ministry of Armed Forces
My first experience was at the DGA, in the French Ministry of Defense. I worked as a developer and data analyst. I helped create tools to solve real operational problems: tools and interfaces for secure data storage and retrieval across the internal network. It was the first time I saw how data and code can make a difference in the real world.
The initial contract was extended through the creation of OTD Expertises, my first company, to continue providing data services to the ministry.
sorry, can't show that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Head of Information Systems
TSE Junior Etudes & CNJE
I led IT strategy and operations for TSE Junior Etudes, a Junior-Enterprise specialized in economics, statistics, and data science consulting. I managed digital infrastructures and led multiple IT projects from conception to deployment.
I automated data flows and optimized analytics tools, which improved operational efficiency and project delivery speed for our consulting teams.
Founded My Own Clothing Brand - Team Barigo
13 years old
At 13, I decided to launch my own clothing brand: Team Barigo. I handled everything from A to Z: design creation, e-commerce website development, inventory management, shipping logistics, and social media marketing. I released 2 full collections and built a community of over 1,000 followers on Instagram.
This experience taught me the fundamentals of e-commerce, digital marketing, and the importance of building a brand identity. I learned that social media plays a huge role in connecting with your audience and growing a business.
The best-seller: super comfortable and way too cool for a middle school comeback! Perfect for making an entrance in 5ème 😎
Created My First Android Mobile Game
12 years old
From a very young age, I was fascinated by the infinite possibilities that programming could unlock. The idea that I could create anything I imagined through code was absolutely captivating. At 12 years old, I built and released my first Android mobile game.
At that age, design wasn't my top priority... but hey, for 2015 standards from a 12-year-old, it was pretty decent! 😄

SafeMask — Use AI without leaks
Chrome Built-in AI Challenge 2025
Every day, sensitive snippets leave companies before anyone notices: names in support tickets, IBANs in emails, API keys in chat boxes. SafeMask solves this locally. It anonymizes your text on the device before you share it and lets you de-anonymize later when needed. No servers. No logs. No network dependency.
Privacy by design: 100% on-device processing powered by Chrome's Built-in AI (Prompt API, Proofreader API, Summarizer API, Rewriter API). Your content never leaves the browser.
Business-ready: Reduce data leak risk without blocking productivity. Works on any website, editor, or form field. Reversible tokens like EMAIL_8A1B2C enable safe collaboration and accurate traceability.
How it works: Paste → Anonymize → Share → Copy back → De-anonymize when needed, all locally. Ultra-fast UX with a floating button, 3 clicks, and you're done.
